2. Safety Requirements Before Installation

4. Site and Opening Checks

The approved drawing should define the opening size, headroom, side room, motor position, control-box position, fixing points, and required electrical supply. Recheck these conditions on site because an accurate door cannot compensate for an unsuitable or out-of-square opening.

Before assembly, confirm:

  • The clear opening width and height match the approved drawing.
  • The supporting wall or steel frame is suitable for the specified anchors and operating loads.
  • The lintel, floor, and fixing surfaces are complete and free of loose material.
  • There is enough headroom for the header, motor, covers, and service access.
  • There is enough side room on the selected motor side.
  • The floor and surrounding wall are sufficiently level and plumb for alignment.
  • Pipes, cable trays, lights, sprinklers, conveyors, and other equipment do not conflict with the door.
  • The controller location is visible, accessible, and protected from traffic and water.
  • The actual power supply matches the door nameplate and project electrical drawing.
  • The safety-sensor line is clear and the activation devices suit the traffic route.

Do not choose anchors only by habit. Anchor type, size, quantity, and embedment depend on the supporting material and the approved project design.

5. Tools and Equipment

The SEPPES user manual lists 12, 13, 14, and 17 mm wrenches, a set of Allen keys, and a drill set for the basic assembly. The installer will normally also need suitable site measuring and access equipment.

Prepare:

  • 12, 13, 14, and 17 mm wrenches or sockets
  • Allen key set

6. Step-by-Step High Speed Door Installation Manual

Step 1: Prepare a Flat Assembly Area

Find a clean, flat area large enough for the complete door frame. Lay cardboard, protective film, or another non-abrasive layer on the floor to prevent scratches.

Place the header and guide rails in the orientation shown in the supplied drawing. The SEPPES manual recommends laying the header and tracks face down/reversed on the floor to make the initial connection easier. Confirm the motor side before fastening anything.

Step 2: Connect the Side Guides to the Header

Align the corresponding fixing holes in the left and right guide rails with the holes in the header box. Insert the supplied screws, engage all fasteners first, and then tighten them evenly with the correct wrench.

Check that:

  • The left and right guides are on the correct sides.
  • The guide entrances align with the curtain path.
  • The guide rails are not twisted.
  • The header-to-guide joints are fully seated.
  • All connection screws are tight and no cable is trapped.

At this stage, the three main parts should form a rigid U-shaped assembly.

Step 3: Assemble the Motor Fixing Bracket

Locate the motor fixing bracket/base in the hardware accessory box. Attach it to the motor with the four supplied screws as shown in the model-specific manual.

Do not lift or carry the motor by its cables. Keep the motor connector, brake cable, encoder cable, and shaft interface clean and protected.

Step 4: Connect the Motor to the Door Shaft

The SEPPES manual shows a retaining pin taped to the motor shaft for transport. Remove the tape, keep the pin for installation, and position the supplied rubber pad beneath the motor assembly.

Align the reducer with the door shaft and slide it into position without hammering or forcing the parts. The door shaft must enter more than half the depth of the reducer connection. Fit the retaining hardware and tighten the lower fixing screws.

Before continuing, confirm that:

  • The motor is supported by the correct bracket and pad.
  • The motor and door shaft are aligned.
  • The shaft engagement is more than half the reducer depth.
  • The retaining pin and fixing screws are installed.
  • No cable is stretched, pinched, or routed across a moving part.

Step 5: Install the Absolute Encoder

The travel-control system uses an external absolute encoder. Insert the encoder induction magnet base into the reducer and ensure it is close to the reducer end face. Fasten the encoder securely to the reducer using the supplied screws, then insert and tighten the aviation plug.

Incorrect magnet position, a loose plug, damaged wiring, or a damaged encoder can produce an encoder fault or prevent accurate travel-limit setting. Do not strike the encoder or pull the cable during installation.

Step 6: Route the Motor and Encoder Cables

Pass the motor wires through the first round hole in the guide rail, route them inside the rail, and bring them out through the second round hole, following the arrangement shown in the supplied manual.

Place the wires fully inside the internal cable-routing slot. Secure any excess cable so it cannot touch the curtain, roller, shaft, guide path, or fixing points. Protect the cable at every metal opening and maintain the required separation between power and signal wiring.

Step 7: Fit the Header Angle Brackets

Install the supplied fixing angle brackets at the top of the header. The SEPPES manual shows brackets at both ends and, where provided, at the middle of the header.

Engage the fasteners, check the bracket orientation, and tighten them securely. These brackets form part of the connection between the header and the supporting structure; do not omit them or replace them with unapproved hardware.

Step 8: Raise, Position, and Anchor the Door

Raise the assembled door using the approved site method and suitable equipment. Follow the project lifting plan and keep everyone outside the fall and movement zones.

Position the door around the structural opening. Check the header for level, both side guides for plumb, the guide spacing for consistency, and the complete frame for square. Temporary supports must hold the assembly safely while the permanent anchors are installed.

Fix the top angle brackets and side guides to the approved supporting wall or steel frame, then complete the required lower/ground fixing points. Tighten the anchors in a controlled sequence and recheck alignment after tightening.

The installed door must be stable, level, and securely connected to the wall or installation frame. A twisted frame can create friction, uneven curtain travel, poor sealing, premature wear, and unreliable safety-sensor alignment.

Step 9: Install the Control Box and Complete Electrical Connections

Mount the control box in the approved location, where the operator can use the emergency stop safely and observe the door without standing in its travel path.

Electrical work must be completed by a qualified electrician using the model-specific wiring diagram. The manual requires the motor and controller to be safely grounded. It specifies a copper grounding conductor of at least 3.5 mm² and a grounding resistance below 10 ohms. It also calls for a leakage-protection device with a 0.03 A trip current, or an equivalent protected power system.

  • Isolate power for more than 10 minutes before wiring and wait for the board indicator to go out.

Step 10: Install Safety and Activation Devices

Install the photoelectric safety transmitter and receiver/reflector on opposite sides of the opening. Align them precisely, tighten their brackets, protect their cables, and make sure the beam is not blocked by the frame, floor conditions, stored materials, or normal traffic equipment.

Connect ordered activation devices to the terminals defined in the supplied controller diagram. Depending on the project, these may include:

Set the origin, fully open, and fully closed positions according to the controller version supplied with the door. Avoid setting the lower limit so aggressively that the bottom beam compresses, folds, or drives into the floor. Avoid setting the upper limit so high that the curtain, bottom beam, or wind bars enter an unsafe position in the header.

If the door moves in the wrong direction, does not find its encoder position, or reports a limit/encoder fault, stop commissioning and check the approved wiring and controller procedure. Do not repeatedly run the motor against an incorrect limit.

Step 12: Commission and Test the Door

Commissioning must prove that the complete system works safely, not just that the motor turns. Test at least the following:

  1. Open, close, stop, and emergency-stop buttons.
  2. Correct opening and closing direction.
  3. Fully open and fully closed limits.
  4. Photoelectric safety response during a closing cycle.
  5. Safety edge/airbag response, if fitted.
  6. Radar, loop detector, pull cord, remote control, interlock, or other ordered activation device.
  7. Curtain tracking in both guides.
  8. Bottom-beam position and sealing.
  9. Motor, reducer, and encoder operation without abnormal noise, vibration, or overheating.
  10. Several repeated cycles with the opening kept clear.

The manual notes that a misaligned photoelectric device may prevent the door from closing because the control system interprets the missing beam as an unsafe condition. Correct the alignment; never bypass the sensor.

Step 13: Fit Covers and Complete the Handover

After all tests pass, isolate the power as required, fit the motor and header covers, remove tools and drilling debris, and restore the work area.
